BOX SCORE

RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Chris Foreman belted a two-run home run in the top of the ninth to give No. 21-ranked Biola a 6-4 win over Cal Baptist at Woodcrest Christian High School in Riverside Thursday night.

It was the ninth-straight win for the Eagles, who improve to 13-5 overall and 9-4 in GSAC play. The Lancers fall to 15-9 on the season and 6-8 in conference action.

Foreman, who originally gave Biola a 4-3 lead in the top of the seventh inning, broke a 4-4 tie with his homer in the ninth. He finished the night going 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. He was also hit by a pitch twice in the game as he reached base four times in the game.

The Eagles jumped out early with two runs in the top of the first inning. After loading the bases with one out, Hawkins Gebbers hit a sacrifice fly to score the first run followed by an RBI-single by Matt McQueen to plate another.

Cal Baptist's Sean Kelley and Dominic Zuniga drove in RBI-singles to cap a three-run second inning for the Lancers.

Biola had numerous chances to take the lead back, loading the bases off Cal Baptist starter Kyle Thomas in the third and the fourth innings. However, the Lancers were able to work out of the jam both times to maintain the lead.

The Eagles finally broke through with two in the top of the seventh inning. After a pair of walks and an error loaded the bases, Biola's Scott Nelson drew the third walk of the frame to force in the tying run. Foreman than followed with his first go-ahead-RBI of the night with a single to right.

Cal Baptist was able to tie the score thanks to an RBI-single by pinch-hitter Jordan Monroe.

However, the Eagles took back the lead in the top of the ninth inning. David West reached an error by pitcher Brandon Daily to lead off the inning. Two batters later Foreman put the Eagles ahead for good with his two-run home run.

Biola starting pitcher Jimmy Johnson allowed just three runs on seven hits over 6-1/3 innings, though he didn't receive a decision.

Greg Matson picked up the win for Biola, allowing just one base-runner over the final 1-2/3 innings he pitched.

Biola returns to action on Saturday (Mar. 10), hosting Fresno Pacific in a GSAC doubleheader set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
