Biola senior Spencer Lyle placed second overall out of 107 runners at the Vanguard University Cross Country Invitational on Saturday with an impressive time of 25:27.08. Lyle, who hails from Ann Arbor, Michigan, dropped nearly 45 seconds off his best time from last year in his first run at the 8K distance this season.

Lyle helped the Eagles to a third-place finish overall, tied with No. 18 Wesmont with 107 team points. Biola returns to action on Saturday at the 2012 NAIA West Coast Jamboree hosted by Biola at 8:30 a.m. at the Irvine Regional Park in Orange. The Eagles then compete at the GSAC Championships on Saturday, Nov. 3 on the same course in Orange.
