LA MIRADA, Calif. ---
Jules Loibl finished inside of the top-5 and shot two rounds within two strokes of par at this week's Western New Mexico Fall Intercollegiate. Loibl's 147 (+3) led the Eagles and led the conference as Head Coach
Jane Carr's squad got off to a record-breaking start to the season.
Loibl is in her first year at Biola after a year at Cuyamaca College. She's immediately having a big impact as she helped the team set single-round scoring records and the new tournament record in the first tournament of the season.
Biola finished ahead of all other PacWest schools in the field of this first tournament. The closest individuals to Loibl was a quartet of PacWest golfers, including Biola's
Marcel Manalo, at +13.
"She is a very focused golfer on the course and plays with her whole heart," said Carr. "Jules is the first to practice and the last to leave. She is a fiery competitor and an inspiration to her teammates."
The Eagles are in action again on Friday as they battle head-to-head with Ottawa (Ariz.) for a shot at making the NCCAA National Tournament later in October in Florida. Through one of the two rounds Biola had made another new team scoring record (308) and led Ottawa by nine strokes. Loibl scored a 73 in her first round.
