ANTIOCH, Calif. --- The 2018 Biola Track & Field roster continues to grow with another addition to Head Coach Sean Henning's squad in the form of Heritage High School's Aaron Jackson.
 
Jackson will join the sprints/jumps program led by Jason Hitchens and brings a wealth of valuable high school experience with him into the program.
 
"Aaron is a fantastic young man who I was very impressed with when we spoke on the phone. He also fit in well with the guys on our team, which is important to me," said Henning. "He has had a few minor setbacks with an injury in high school but is healthy and competing well now as a senior. He will only continue to get healthier and better when he comes to Biola next year. Aaron loves the Lord and it is evident when you talk to him about why he competes in athletics and what he wants out of the next four years of his life."
 
Jackson competed four years for the Patriots and was a part of the NCS Meet of Champions four times during his high school career. He won the league championship in the triple jump and 400m race and also earned all-league first team honors numerous times.
 
In 2016 he helped his team to the Bay Valley Athletic League Championship. His bread and butter events are the 400m, 200m, 100m, long jump, triple jump and the 4x100m relay.
 
"[I chose Biola because] it is a college of faith and I love the atmosphere," said Jackson. "When I came to visit for the orientation weekend I really enjoyed the people I met and the friends I made. After meeting some of the staff, coaches and team members I knew that it would be a great fit for me and my college experience."
 
Jackson is a gifted athlete and also a gifted student. In high school he reigned in a ton of academic accolades to stand alongside his athletic accomplishments.
 
He earned the President's Education Award in recognition of Outstanding Academic Excellence multiple times, was named the Heritage High School science student of the quarter and was a multiple-time CIF Scholar-Athlete. He also was a part of the CIF Distinguished Scholastic Team, earned the Heritage High School Athletic Director's Academic Award and was consistently on the Principal's honor roll.  Finally, his impact on the high school science community was definitely noticeable. He was nominated for the National Academy of Future Scientists and Technologists Award of Excellence and was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars.
 
Jackson will begin classes at Biola in the fall of 2017 and will compete in his first collegiate track season in 2018. He plans to major in kinesiology with hopes of a career in athletic training.
