FRESNO, Calif. --- It was a frigid, ugly, overcast winter day in central California as Biola Swim & Dive competed in its final regular season meet of the 2015-16 season. The Eagles were in Fresno for a dual meet against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds.
Â
The weather and travel took a toll on a tired Eagles team on a day that was not as noteworthy as the team would have hoped. Biola lost both sides of the dual meet to FPU and had no new national qualifying times.
Â
Biola got four individual victories, but the Sunbirds' prowess in the relays and diving portion of the event schedule helped the host team to the meet victory.
Â
Abby Blake was one of the Eagles' swimmers to get an individual win. She took first in the 200-freestyle by out touching Kaylee Cooper of FPU by five one-hundredths of a second (1:59.91).
Â
Christina Ali was the next Eagle to experience victory as she swam away with a three-second win in the 100-breaststroke. She posted a 1:07.51 to beat the three FPU swimmers that took second, third and fourth.
Â
Lisa Tixier garnered the final two event victories as she took first place in the 100-butterfly and 100-freestyle. She won the 100-freestyle by almost two seconds (52.49), but her margin of victory in the 100-butterfly was just one-tenth of a second (59.32) in a great race with FPU's Madison McGinnis.
Â
Biola's regular season comes to a close with the men falling 62-199 and the women falling 81-163. The next meet is generally regarded as the biggest of the year as Biola will compete in the PCSC Championships at East LA College from Feb. 12-15.
