Ryan Swain Joins Biola Men's Basketball

After Buchanan High School and two years at Fresno City College Swain joins the Eagles.

CLOVIS, Calif. --- Buchanan High School has produced plenty of Biola student-athletes over the years, and Ryan Swain becomes the latest to come from the Central California school as he commits to join Biola Men's Basketball.

After graduating from Buchanan in 2012 Swain went to Fresno City College from fall of 2012 through this spring. He earned all-conference first team honors and was the team captain for the Rams.

"Ryan is a young man who played in a very good junior college program," said Assistant Coach Julious Coleman. "He is a tough, hard-nosed player who is a proven winner who should give us leadership in our program."

The 6-foot-4-inch guard held the No. 1 rank in the state for multiple weeks over his two-year stretch wearing red for the Rams. He also made the Dean's List twice during his time at the city college.

While he was at Buchanan, Swain was a four-year varsity letter and was twice named to the All-Tri River Athletic Conference first team. He added all-valley honorable mention and second team honors and was on multiple all-tournament teams throughout his tenure with the Bears.

His work ethic and leadership ability was notable during his high school career, as he won awards for being the most competitive athlete at Buchanan and also earned the Bear Award in recognition of his scholarship, leadership, dedication, integrity and athletic achievement.

He graduated high school with a 3.8 cumulative grade point average and plans to enter a career as a teacher or go to medical school when he is done with his years at Biola.

"Being able to learn and continue to worship God in a faith-based college was important to me, and Biola offered an amazing ability to continue building my faith," said Swain. "I also loved the size of the campus and how friendly the people that I met were. What really sold me what how professional and friendly the coaching staff was."

He will enter the university in the fall and begin his Biola career under the leadership of Head Coach Dr. Dave Holmquist.
