Black Horse Golf Course

SEASIDE, Calif. --- Kyle Schrader finished in a tie for sixth place as BIola put together one of the best three-round performances in the programs five-year history, finishing fifth among 12 teams at the NAIA Unaffiliated Grouping #2 (Cal Pac/Cascade/GSAC) Golf Tournament on Monday and Tuesday at the Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside.

Biola finished the event with a three-round total of 932, finishing two shots ahead of Warner Pacific College (Ore.) for fifth and seven ahead of Holy Names University. The Eagles were 14 shots back of fourth-place Concordia (Ore.) while Point Loma Nazarene won the event with an 880.

"This tournament was one of our best tournaments," said Head Coach Hank Woodrome. "Point Loma was strong and by far the best team out there, but I think we performed well. Our guys played pretty good against tough competition and finished the year strong."

Schrader, who won the last tournament he appeared in back in April, posted the second-best score of the final round, carding a one-over-par 73 to finish with a six-over 222 (75-74-73=222). He moved from 11th to sixth with the solid final round performance and was just six strokes away from first place.

Nick Grady placed 28th overall in just his second collegiate tournament. Grady, who joined the team in February, carded an impressive 73 in the first round to get things going and finished with a 20-over-par 236 (73-81-82=236).

Josh Mathis and John Graham finished tied for 35th overall at 238. Mathis struggled with an opening-round 82 but carded rounds of 80 and 76 to finish on a high note. Graham shot 77 and 75 in his first two rounds and finished with an 86. Rounding out the squad was Greg Bodine, who finished in 50th with a 249 (78-82-89=249).

It was the final collegiate appearance for Bodine and Graham. Woodrome had high praise for his two seniors: "I have enjoyed having them both on the team. Not only are they very good golfers, but they are upstanding young men. I appreciate all they have brought to the team and they will be missed."
