Drake Fages repeated as the Golden State Athletic Conference Baseball Player of the Week after posting a .700 batting average in three games against San Diego Christian College this week.
Fages, a senior from Temecula, missed the first half of the season due to injury, but has found his stride at the end of the year. He closed out the final week of the regular season with a .700 batting average, recording seven hits in 10 at-bats and reaching two other times via walks. Fages efforts help Biola take three of four from San Diego Christian over the final week of the regular season.
Fages extended his home run streak by hitting a home run in five straight games by hittign two in the first game of the series on Friday. He would finish the doubleheader by going 5-for-6 (.833) at the plate with six RBIs. He played the first game of the second doubleheader on Saturday, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs.
Fages currently has an eight-game hitting streak and is batting .500 (14-for-28) over the last 7 games with 6 home runs and 18 RBIs. For the season, he is batting 367 with seve home runs and already ranks fourth on the team with 27 RBIs, despite playing in just 24 games.
Fages was honored last week as the GSAC Player of the Week after hitting four home runs and recording 10 RBIs to help the Eagles win three of four games against the Sea Lions and move into third place in the GSAC.
Biola closed out the season in third place with an 18-14 GSAC mark and finished the regular-season at 25-25 overall. The Eagles are the No. 3 seed in the upcoming GSAC Tournament which begins on Tuesday with Biola facing No. 4 The Master's College at 5:30 p.m. The tournament is being held at Azusa Pacific University.
