Jessilyn Conicelli Named First-Team NAIA All-American

LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola senior Jessilyn Conicelli continued her year of firsts becoming the first NAIA First-Team All-American in program history as the NAIA announced the end-of-the year awards on Wednesday afternoon.

Conicelli, a senior from Redlands, put together one of the best overall seasons in program history and has been reaping the benifits all month. She became the first Biola player to be named GSAC Player of the Year and, prior to that, was named an Academic All-American.

Conicelli finished the 2010-11 season leading the Golden State Athletic Conference in both scoring and rebounding. She averaged 18.1 points and 12.5 rebounds per game, ranking third in the NAIA in rebounding and 14th in scoring. She was the lone GSAC player to average a double-double on the season--a feat she has accomplished in each of the last three seasons.

She recorded an NAIA-best 27 double-doubles on the season including one in 17-straight to end the season.

In what proved to be the final game of her collegiate career, Conicelli scored 24 points and added 15 rebounds in Biola's opening round loss at the NAIA Tournament last week.

Conicelli has earned All-GSAC honors in each of the last three years and was an NAIA Second-Team All-American last season. Earlier this season, Conicelli was named a Capital One Second-Team Academic All-American.

For her career, Conicelli scored 1,595 points--fifth all-time at Biola--and recorded 1,135 rebounds--second all-time. She is one of only two Biola players to ever score 1,500 points and pull down 1,000 rebounds.

Conicelli is the first Biola player to be named a first-team All-American on the NAIA level. Biola's last player to earn national First-Team honors was Young Ran Cho, who was an American Women's Sports Federation (AWSF) First-Team All-American in 1981-82.

Biola's season came to end in the first round of the NAIA Tournament where the Eagles made their third-straight appearance. Biola was 25-7 overall this year, its third-straight 20-win season.
