LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola senior forward
Jessilyn Conicelli has been named the final Golden State Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the 2010-11 season, the conference office announced on Monday.
Conicelli wrapped up the regular season with a pair of double-doubles, averging 18 points and 11 rebounds per game as No. 8 Biola won both of its GSAC games last week. The victories helped the Eagles to a program-best 16-4 GSAC mark and into a tie for second place--its best finish in program history.
Conicelli scored 18 points and added 11 rebounds all in just 25 minutes in Biola's victory at Hope International on Tuesday. She followed that up with a solid 17-point, 11-rebound effort against Point Loma Nazarene, adding six assists and two steals on Thursday night.
Conicelli, who wrapped up the season as the conference leader in overall scoring and rebounding, has recorded double-doubles in her last 14 games and has an NAIA-best 24 double-doubles on the season.
Biola closed out the regular season with a 25-5 record and will open the GSAC Tournament with a home game against the No. 6 seed Concordia University (Calif.) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
