RIVERSIDE, Calif. --- Just 24 hours after seeing its first action in the new year, Biola's swim and dive teams were back in action again, taking on California Baptist University and Chapman University in a double-dual meet out in Riverside.
The Eagle women lost to the defending NAIA Champion Lancers 223-60 and were narrowly defeated by NCAA Division III Chapman University 151-127.
The men's team was able to knock off Chapman, 128-54, but lost to California Baptist 237-40.
After a tough week of practice and a close meet the day before, the Eagles were understandably tired, resulting in few strong performances on the day. The best performances came from junior
April Smith in the 200 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke where she placed second in both events. In the 200 free, Smith swam a 2:00.10 to finish just a fraction of a second out of first place. The story was similar in the 100 breaststroke where Smith swam a 1:09.89, just under half a second behind the event winner.
