PHOENIX --- Biola sophomore Whittney Hobbs shot a personal-best round of 79 and came back with an 83 to card the best two-round score in the program's history as the Eagles opened the season at the Grand Canyon University Women's Golf Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Coldwater Golf Club in Phoenix.
Hobbs finished tied for 63rd overall in a tough field of over 200 golfers which featured a number of NCAA Division I and Division II schools.
Biola sent just three golfers to the tournament, with each competing as individuals. Freshmen
Rose Krison (102+99=201) and
Michaela Mendiola (104+105=209) also hit the links for the Eagles in the two-round tournament.
The Eagles will send four golfers to the Claremont-McKenna Invitational in Chino Hills on October 19-20, allowing the team to score for the first time in the program's brief two-year existence.
