MONROE, Ore. --- Biola wrapped up its second season as a varsity golf program with an impressive showing at the Golden State Athletic Conference/Cascade Collegiate Conference NAIA Qualifier, placing sixth out of nine teams on Monday and Tuesday at the Diamond Woods Golf Course in Monroe, Oregon.
The Eagles shot an 89-over 953 in the three-round tournament, finishing sixth overall and narrowly edging out Northwest Christian College by three strokes. Point Loma Nazarene took team honors and earns an automatic berth to the NAIA National Championships.
Individually, John Graham played his best golf of the season, firing a 12-over-par 228 and finishing tied for ninth overall. Graham shot a first-round 76, added a second-round 77 and finished with a 75 in the final round.
Jonathan Enge and Zach Hyer took differenent routes scoring-wise, but finished tied for 25th overall with a 23-over-par 239. Enge carded first-day rounds of 83 and 82, but came roaring back with a 74 in the final round. Hyer shot a 78, 79 and followed with an 82.
Rounding out the scoring for the Eagles were Mike Belleggie and Sam Howell. Belleggie finished 35th overall with a 247 (83-82-82) and Howell carded a 256 (86-87-83) for 40th overall.
"It was a great way for us to end the season," said Head Coach John Lane. "The team is really motivated and they are excited to work hard in the off-season to prepare for next year."
