LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola forward Rocky Hampton has been named a 2008-09 NAIA Division I Men's Basketball Honorable Mention All-American as announced on Tuesday by the national office.

Hampton, a junior from Lake Arrowhead, led the GSAC and was seventh in the NAIA with 77 blocks, averaging 2.5 per game. He also finished third in the conference in rebounding with 266 rebounds (8.6 per game) and was also in the top 20 in scoring with his 12.4 points per game average.

Hampton recorded six double-doubles this season and scored at least 19 points in six games. He also had at least one block in each of his 30 games this season, recording a season-high six blocks in a home win over Vanguard back in December.

Hampton saved one of his best performances of the season for the NAIA National Tournament, scoring 22 points and adding 13 rebounds and five blocks in a tough 68-63 overtime loss to No. 6 Westminster in the first round.

Biola wrapped up the season with a 22-9 record, placing fourth in the GSAC with a 12-8 record, and reaching the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in four seasons. Hampton is one of five starters that return for the Eagles next season.
