ST. LOUIS --- Biola shattered six more school records to wrap up the 2009 NAIA Swimming and Diving Championships at the Saint Peter's Rec-Plex on Saturday.

The Eagles close out the championships with a ninth place finish on the men's side while the women took 11th place overall.

On Friday, Biola opened the day with a pair of new school records on the men's side. In the evening finals, the Eagles' men crushed the existing record in the 200 free relay, finishing seventh overall with a time of 1:25.39. The relay team was made up of Zach Perkins, Brian Shepard, Ryan Hanson and Arek O'Connell.

Sophomore Paul Mendoza continued his assault on the record book, adding yet another record to the two he set on Thursday. This time, Mendoza rocked the 400 IM, placing ninth overall with a time of 4:09.78, dropping over four seconds off his best time, which happened to be the old school record.

The women also got in on the record-breaking act, led by freshman Amber Kiel. Kiel swam an impressive 1:00.24 in the morning prelims of the 100 backstroke. The swim was nearly four seconds faster than her previous best. In the evening she finished 13th overall.

In the next event, Kiel swam the lead leg of the 400 medley relay team which set a new Biola record in a time of 4:05.78. Following the freshman was sophomore April Smith, freshman Rachael Sirjord and senior Sarah Warkentin

On Saturday, Biola added a pair of new records to close things out. Kiel again dropped a ton of time to set a new best mark in the 200 backstroke. The freshman knocked 4.5 seconds off her best time and swam to a 2:12.25 in the prelims.

Later that evening, the men closed out the meet with a 3:10.22 in the 400 free relay. The quartet of Perkins, O'Connell, Hanson and Shepard placed ninth overall in the event.

Biola also had a pair of swimmers reach the top four in their events. Mendoza took fourth overall in the mile swim with a time of 16:12.24. Smith was also impressive, earning a fourth-place finish in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:27.57.
