LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Senior Sarah Warkentin recorded season-best times in winning a pair of events to lead Biola in a dual meet against Azusa Pacific on Saturday in the final tuneup of the regular season.
Azusa Pacific took the dual 126-103 as the Cougars' divers helped APU to an early 25-point lead. Biola, which does not have any women's divers, outscored the Cougars 103-101 in the swimming portion of the dual.
Warkentin, swimming in the final home meet of her impressive career, won the 50 free with a time of 25.87 and also won the 100 free in 55.50. Both times were season-bests and improved on her NAIA qualifying times.
Sophomore April Smith took the 100 breaststroke with a quick time of 1:10.04, barely touching out APU's Parisa Dana by two-thousands of a second. She then returned to lead off the 200 free relay team which won the final event of the day with a time of 1:45.58.
Freshman Brittney Rosania was Biola's other individual winner. She led a 1-2 Biola finish with sophomore Hannah Lawman in the 200 individual medley. Rosario won with a time of 2:22.74 with Lawman close behind in 2:27.38.
Biola's next action comes in two weeks as the Eagles head to Long Beach for the Pacific Collegiate Swimming Conference championships Feb. 18-21.
