Biola Opens Season with 21 NAIA Qualifying Times at PCSC Meet

FRESNO, Calif. --- The Biola University swimming and diving teams opened the 2009-10 season with a strong showing as 11 swimmers qualified for the NAIA National Championships in 21 different events at the PCSC Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

The two day meet consisted of relay events on Friday and an individual pentathlon on Saturday. For the pentathlon, swimmers competed in a series of five events. Their times from each individual event were added together, and awards were given to the top ten athletes with the lowest cumulative time in each category.

The Biola men had two swimmers who received awards during the pentathlon. Freshman Jacob Neller finished in 7th place overall in the freestyle pentathlon, and senior Brian Shepard finished right behind him at 8th.

The Eagles will return to the pool on Saturday, Oct. 24, when the travel to Pepperdine University for the Malibu Invitational.
