Men's Golf Adds Pair of Talented Recruits to 2009 Team

LA MIRADA, Calif. — Two outstanding high school golfers, John Graham and Zach Hyer, will be joining the Biola University men's golf team for the 2008-09 season head coach John Lane announced this week.

The pair will join the Eagles for their second season of varsity competition. Both athletes hail from outside of California with Graham coming from Washington State and Hyer coming from Arizona.

Graham was a four-year member of the varsity squad at Northwest Christian High School just outside of Spokane, Washington. He finished in the top three in the 1B/2B State Championships three consecutive years including a pair of second-place finishes. Graham helped the Crusaders to three-straight state titles.

"We are excited to have John on our team," said Lane. "He will bring a lot of talent to our growing golf program."

Hyer was also a state champion while competing for Valley Christian High School in Phoenix, Arizona. He earned first place honors at the 2007 1A/2A Arizona State Championship and was named to the National High School Golf Coaches Association All-American team. Hyer also helped the Trojans to a state championships in 2005.

"Zach has the experience of playing at a high level that is an important part of building a golf program," said Lane. "We are very excited to have him on the team."
