Women's Golf Continues Strong Fall Season at CSUMB Invite

Jennifer Kent led the Eagles on the difficult course

MONTEREY, Calif. --- Despite playing one of the toughest collegiate courses on the West Coast, the Biola University women's golf trio fared well at the Cal State Monterey Bay Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at the Bayonet/Blackhorse Golf Club in Monterey.

The three freshman, playing in just their second collegiate golf tournaments, continued their upward improvement despite some deceivingly high scores. Freshman Jennifer Kent carded the best score for the Eagles with a two-round total of 191 (93-98) to finish tied for 69th in the field of 108.

Whitney Hobbs was close behind at 193 (101-92) and Angela Ojeda rounded out the group with a score of 202 (109-93).

As a testament to the difficulty of the course, the winner of the event, Monterey Bay's Cicilia Chudivan shot a 12-over 156 on her home course. The University of British Columbia took top team honors with Cal State Monterey Bay finishing second, just eight shots back.

"The ladies are definitely improving," said Biola coach John Lane. "This course was the most difficult course we will see this year. It challenged them and they came through with some great shots. It has been exciting to see how much better these ladies are after just two tournaments."

Biola's women's team will take the next few months off and return in February for the spring portion of the schedule.
