SANTA CLARITA, Calif. --- Biola's men's golf team opened the 2008 season with seventh place finish at the The Master's College Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Robinson Ranch in Santa Clarita.
For the Eagles, it was an eye-opening experience as the team of five was made up of four freshman and a sophomore. The young squad also had to face difficult conditions because of the smoke from fires in the area and gusty winds on Monday. However, despite some high scores, the young squad still played well for their first collegiate tournament.
Sophomore Greg Bodine led the team with a three-round score of 253 followed closely by Zach Hyer, who shot 257. John Graham posted a 259 for the tournament matched by Andrew Johanson. Rounding out the squad was Jonathan Enge, who carded a 263.
Overall, Point Loma Nazarene took top team honors in the the seven-team field, finishing just one stroke ahead of California Baptist.
Biola returns to the course on Nov. 3-4 for the Holy Names Invitational in Alemeda, Calif.
