LA MIRADA, Calif. – John Lane has been named the inaugural head coach of the Biola University men's and women's golf programs, BU Athletics Director Dave Holmquist announced Monday.
Lane will oversee the formation of the University's first varsity golf programs which are set to begin play in the fall of 2007.
“We are very excited about having John as our new golf coach,” said Holmquist. “He is very enthusiastic about golf and will do an excellent job as a recruiter and teacher of the game.”
Lane, who played collegiate golf at Colorado Christian University and at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, has spent the last year working with TaylorMade/Adidas Golf as a customer service and event representative.
“It is an honor and a privilege to join the Biola athletic department,” said Lane. “It is truly refreshing to spend time with the people on this campus. It doesn't get much better than playing college golf in Southern California and I am excited to begin a golf tradition here at Biola.”
Lane is currently attending Biola's Talbot School of Theology where he is pursuing a Master's Degree in Theology.
Students who are interested in joining Biola's men's or women's golf team are encouraged to contact Coach Lane at bu.golf@biola.edu or by phone at (562) 944-0351 ext. 3147.
