LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola University will add Men's and Women's varsity golf starting in the fall of 2007, Biola's Athletic Director Dave Holmquist announced on Wednesday.
The addition brings the total number of sports at Biola to 17 after men's tennis was added to the slate last year.
Both golf teams will play schedules in the fall and the spring with the NAIA Championships in Mid-May.
Biola's teams will compete as independents in NAIA Region II. Other schools in the Golden State Athletic Conference offering men's golf are California Baptist University, Concordia University-Irvine, Point Loma Nazarene University and The Master's College. Cal Baptist and Concordia are the only other schools to offer a women's program in the conference.
A search is currently underway to hire coaches to guide the new programs. Anyone interested should contact Biola's Athletic Director's office at (562) 906-4522.
