LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Biola opened its season with a tough loss against the University of La Verne, falling 8-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Biola Tennis Center.

Due to court conditions on one of the courts at the Tennis Center, the teams were forced to play three matches at a time rather than the usual method of playing all of the doubles followed by all of the single matches. 

The Eagles were solid in doubles, scoring their lone victory at No. 3. Danielle Calbeck and Jessica thong were able to record a 9-7 victory. However, Biola dropped the other two doubles matches and fell into an early 2-1 hole.

The Leopards were able to sweep the singles competitions to wrap up the match.

Biola returns to action next Saturday, hosting Cal Tech in a non-conference match beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the Biola Tennis Center.
