COSTA MESA, Calif. --- No. 9 Vanguard proved to be too much for Biola to overcome in the GSAC opener for both teams on Tuesday as the Lions swept the Eagles 9-0 at the Costa Mesa Tennis Center.
The Eagles (0-3, 0-1 GSAC) fell behind early after the singles play with
Lauren Vogel putting up a strong fight at No. 6 before falling 6-3, 6-2. The doubles tandems at No. 2 and No. 3 also took a few games off their highly-ranked opponents, with
Mariah Pace and
Alisha Hansen battling to an 8-3 decision.
Biola returns to action with another tough GSAC match on Thursday, hosting No. 2 Fresno Pacific at 3:30 p.m. at the Biola Tennis Center.
