CHARLOTTETOWN, PEI, Canada --- Biola University junior
Natasha Miller earned a pair of silver medals this week in the 100m hurdles and the high jump while competing for British Columbia at the 2009 Canada Games.
Miller, a native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, received her first silver medal on Wednesday in the hurdles, crossing the line in 14.28 seconds, matching her time at the 2009 NAIA National Championships where she placed third overall. Noelle Montcolm from Ontario won the event in a time of 13.85. Earlier in day, she recorded a personal best time with a mark of 14.27 seconds in the preliminary heats.
On Thursday, Miller cleared 1.71m (5 feet, 7-3/8 inches) in the high jump, tying for first with two other athletes, but earning silver based on having four misses. Fellow British Columbian Holly Parent narrowly edged Miller out with just three misses.
Miller, who will be a junior at Biola this upcoming track and field season, won three NAIA titles in 2008-09, winning the indoor heptathlon, outdoor pentathlon and high jump titles. She was also named the female Most Valuable Performer at both the indoor and outdoor championships.
