MEET RESULTS
LA VERNE, Calif. --- Biola posted a number of strong performances despite tough competition on Saturday at the University of La Verne Invitational.
Biola was one of five teams represented at the meet which was dominated by Concordia University. Despite Concordia's strong swims, the Eagles had a strong showing with top-three finishes in several events.
There were several noteworthy swims on both the men's and the women's side. For the women,
Alison Seek (1650 Free), and
April Smith (200 IM) took first place in their respective events despite the tough competition. For the men,
Jacob Neller (1650 Free) took first place in his swim with a new NAIA national qualifying time (16:58.40).
Other standout swims on the women's side were:
Emily Mosbacher – 2nd 50 Free, 2nd 100 Free;
Amber Kiel – 3rd 100 Back; Smith – 3rd 500 Free; and
Bethany Turner – 3rd 100 Breast.
On the men's side:
Paul Mendoza – 2nd 1650 Free;
Brian Shepard – 3rd 200 Free, 2nd 100 Free;
Zach Perkins – 2nd 50 Free, 3rd 100 Free;
Bret Beatty – 2nd 200 IM;
Luke Perryman – 3rd 200 IM;
Micah Perryman – 2nd 100 Fly; and
Nathan Roe – 3rd 500 Free.
The Eagles return to the pool on Saturday, November 14 to compete at the Bulldog Pentathlon hosted by the University of Redlands. The unique race format has each swimmer race in 100yds of all four strokes. After swimming each of these four races, their total time will be calculated to determine the winner.
