Jessilyn Conicelli scored 15 points but was the lone Biola player in double-figures as the Eagles fell 80-50 to No. 6 Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) in their second game of the16th Annual Jackson Rotary Classic at the Fred DeLay Gymnasium on the campus of Union University.
The Eagles suffer their second loss of the season in as many games while Freed-Hardeman improves to 6-0 overall.
Conicelli had a strong night for Biola, connecting on 6-of-8 from the field and adding eight rebounds. However, the team shot just 29 percent overall and made just 2-of-19 from beyond the arc.
Freed-Hardeman was led by Janna Cross, who scored 20 points--12 of which came from the free throw line. She was one of five players to reach double-figures in scoring.
Biola kept the game close through the first seven minutes, trailing by just five at 13-8 with 13:53 to play in the first half. But the Eagles went ice cold over the next four minutes as Freed-Hardeman rattled off a 7-0 run to break the game open.
Charrise Reece snapped the drought with a three-pointer but Biola could not keep up as Freed-Hardeman continued to shoot the lights out and stretched the lead to 42-19 just before the half and went into the locker room up 49-27.
The Eagles close out the trip with a tough game on Saturday night, facing host and No. 1-ranked Union University (Tenn.) at 7:00 p.m. PT. Fans can watch the game live by
