Fourteen Biola Teams Earn NAIA Scholar-Team Honors

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Fourteen teams from Biola University were recognized on Wednesday for work in the classroom as the NAIA released its 2007-08 Scholar Teams list. The Eagles were among 750 teams to earn at least a 3.0 team grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the 2007-08 academic year, as defined by its institution.

Biola's track and field teams led the way with the women's indoor and outdoor teams each earning a 3.53 team GPA while the women's cross country team finished close behind with a 3.52. The men's swim team posted an impressive 3.47 team GPA, which was the highest of any men's swim team in the NAIA. Rounding out the top performers were the softball and women's tennis teams which each posted a team GPA of 3.41.

The other Biola teams honored by the NAIA were men's tennis (3.37), volleyball (3.29), women's swimming (3.25), women's basketball (3.25), women's soccer (3.24), men's indoor track and field (3.16), men's outdoor track and field (3.11) and men's cross country (3.09).

The 14 teams from Biola matched the most honored by any school in the Golden State Athletic Conference with Azusa Pacific also being honored with 14 teams. Vanguard was close with 10, Cal Baptist with eight, The Master's with seven and Westmont with five.
