POMONA, Calif. — Freshman Natasha Miller and sophomore Kristin Schmidt combined for six NAIA Outdoor National automatic qualifying standards as the duo led Biola at the Pomona-Pitzer Track Invitational on Saturday.
Miller, a freshmen and indoor pentathlon All-American, had a great showing at the meet. She tied for second in the high jump with a PR jump of 1.68m (5-6), placed seventh and ran a season best time of 14.89 in the 100 hurdles, tied for eighth in the triple jump with 11.59 m and finished third in the 400 hurdles with a PR time of (64.14). All of these marks hit or bettered the NAIA Outdoor National qualifying standard.
Schmidt, a four-time NAIA All-American, finished eighth in the 1500m with a time of 4:41.12 and finished fourth in the 5000m with a 17:33.48. Both of these marks are well under the “A” standard for qualifying.
Other Biola athletes had great efforts as Erika Perez (12:39.93) and Danielle Gomes (12:43.52) finished sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 3k steeplechase.
Eva Dunbar finished first in her flight in the discus with a 28.82 meter toss and Kesslyn Martin finished first in her heat of the 100 hurdles with 16.84.
Personal records were set by both Connie Andersen in the 400 hurdles with a time of 67.71 and sophomore Kyle McNulty in the 1500 (4:09.03).
Biola's next meet will be a Tri-Meet between the Eagles, Westmont College and Fresno Pacific University in Fresno on Saturday (Apr. 12) beginning at 2:30 p.m.
