JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Freshman Natasha Miller opened the 2008 NAIA Indoor Championships with a bang for Biola as she earned All-American honors with a fourth place finish in the pentathalon on Thursday at the Memorial Center on the campus of Eastern Tennessee State University.
Miller, who is participating in the pentathalon for just the second time this season, moved into the top six and wrapped up fourth place by winning the final event, the 800m run. She crossed the line with a time of 2:29.04. She also tied for first in the high jump–the second event of the day, clearing a personal-best height of 5-5 in her final jump of the day.
Miller took fifth overall in the 60m hurdles to open the day with a time of 9.13. She also tied for 10th in the long jump with a leap of 16-10.75 and was 16th in the shot put at 24-3.
Miller returns to action on Saturday to compete in the triple jump where she is seeded fourth in the event.
Biola's Katie Thede, Kristin Schmidt and Brian Ball all compete on Friday in day two of the NAIA meet. event.
