Biola Sets PRs and Adds to National Qualifying in Nebraska

Kyle McNulty dropped 17 seconds off his best time at the meet

LINCOLN, Neb. — Biola's indoor track and field squad had a strong showing in its lone regular-season trip outside of California as a number of athletes recorded PRs and others improved on or recorded new NAIA Qualifying times and marks at the Nebraska Wesleyan Indoor Qualifier on Friday.

Natasha Miller finished third in the Triple Jump, recording a season-best jump of 11.66 meters. She also finished fourth in the 60m hurdles with a new PR time of 9.06.

Kristin Schmidt and Katie Thede both made the provisional standard in the mile with Schmidt running 5:16.01 and Thede crossing the line at 5:17.05.

The women's distance medley relay of Thede, Miller, Kim Arroues and Schmidt combined for a third place finish and a time of 12:33.37, an improvement of seven seconds off their early season national qualifying time.

Other noteworthy performances include a great run by Kyle McNulty in the mile. McNulty dropped 17 seconds off his best time in the event and finished with a 4:26.78. He was not alone, though as Sarah Brooks (5:25.32) and Kimberly Arroues (5:25.32) also recorded PRs in the mile while Jarend Bird (16:01.01) ran a PR time in the 5000.

Biola's next meet will be the NAIA National Indoor Championships at Eastern Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tenn.,  March 6-8. The Eagles have had 10 athletes qualify for the Indoor Championships after sending just three last week.
